Optimising your Google maps listing


Do you optimise your Google My Business (Maps) listing?

This listing will be shown in the maps each time someone includes a geographical area in their search e.g. "Dentist Solihull". It may also be shown if someone has their location visible to Google, even if they don't use a geographical area in their search.


Remember, the maps listings appear above all of the other listings, effectively beating Google #1 positions

According to Yext (a data distribution service), you should make updates to:

  • Your logo (this typically increases views by 99%)

  • images of the practice inside (this typically increases views by 60%)

  • A description of your practice (this typically increases views by 45%)

  • Your social media accounts (this typically increases views by 45%)

  • Your payment methods (this typically increases listing views by 58%)

  • Your opening times (this typically increases listing views by 84%)

  • A link to your website (this typically increases listing views by 116%)

Another way to optimise your Google business listing is to ensure that your Name, Address and Phone (NAP) are exactly the same across as many different listing sites as possible.
